With 100 days to go for the 2023 Men’s Hockey World Cup, the best hockey players in men’s hockey gear up to converge in Bhubaneshwar and Rourkela. Hosts India, who won the silver at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games, hope to retain their top form in their campaign to win the coveted world title. According to captain Manpreet Singh, with 100 days to go, the excitement is palpable, and the squad have been training hard.

They have maintained a consistent form since the Olympics, and he hopes they can continue to do so at the World Cup. Vice-captain Harmanpreet Singh is also excited and cannot wait for the event to kick off. He believes the team has made strides on several aspects and are able to harness its true potential to take on the World Cup.

 

The 2023 Men’s Hockey World Cup is set to unfold at the Kalinga stadium in Bhubaneshwar, and the newly constructed Birsa Munda Stadium in Rourkela, and FIH CEO Thierry Weil believes this will provide a big boost to hockey both in India and the world.

Furthermore,Odisha Sports Minister Tusharkanti Behera has expressed the state’s eagerness to kick off the events and has described the extensive ongoing preparations as the countdown enters its 100-day mark. Newly elected Hockey India president DilipTirkey has also acknowledged the honour that hosting the World Cup represents for India. Team India is set to take on Spain in their first match, which will be held at the Birsa Munda stadium in Rourkela.
