Verstappen poised to win World Championship

Max Verstappen is set to make history at the Singapore Grand Prix’s Marina Bay Street Circuit, as he is likely to seal his position as the World Champion for the second time, a feat achieved by only 16 drivers before. With a lead of 116 points over his closest rival, Charles Leclerc of Ferrari, the 24-year-old Red Bull rider must widen it to a 138-point lead to win the Singapore GP, which he has not done before. This will also require him to outperform opponents and teammates including beating Leclerc by 22 points, George Russell by 6 points, Sergio Perez by 13 points, and Carlos Sainz by 11 points.

Verstappen’s previous win in 2021 ended in controversy, but the conclusion of this year’s campaign is untarnished, with 11 race wins in total and a current tally of 5 races won consecutively. This also brings him closer to beating Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel’s record of 13 race wins in one season. Though the start of the season, which entailed new rules and a new car, was slow, Verstappen has demonstrated improved performances consistently.
