Graham Potter: Chelsea’s newest manager’s message to Brighton fans
Graham Potter is Chelsea’s newest manager, after the recent sacking
of Thomas Tuchel. The ex-manager of Brighton and Hove Albion - whose match as
parting manager was a 5-2 win over Leicester City - has written a letter
addressed to the club’s fans in an apparent apology over his sudden departure. Known
for his ability to better a team’s overall performance, Potter successfully led
Brighton to a 9th place finish in the Premier League last season,
which is their best performance so far.
His letter included a reference to the difficulty that one
might have in accepting the sudden decisions that can occur in football. It
goes on to add, that he understands if fans are unable to forgive his decision
to leave the club but is nonetheless thankful for the opportunities it has
provided him. He also explains that he has decided to make the move to progress
in his career and wishes his successor congratulations on helming a “fantastic
squad”and administration. It remains to be seen if Potter’s stint at Chelsea is
as successful as his time at Brighton has been.
