According to MotoGP chief Carmelo Ezpeleta, the recent rise in the popularity of the F1 have benefited other motorsports, including the MotoGP, which itself has produced several stars recently including Valentino Rossi, Marc Marquez, Jorge Lorenzo, and Andrea Dovizioso.

However, Ezpeleta has also asserted that while F1 is the most popular amongst all motorports, MotoGP must gain popularity independent of that, which was demonstrated by the recent turmoil in the F1, throughout which MotoGP has remained unaffected.

Of the upcoming changes in the 2023 season for MotoGP, one is the inclusion of sprint races on the weekend, alongside grand prix events, a format which the F1 debuted in 2021. This is expected to have wide ranging effect on MotoGP, with Ezpeleta certain that doing so in every round will offer the maximum benefits.

He has also explained that with the absence of Moto2 and Moto3 warm-ups, and a shortening of the MotoGP warm-up, a higher number of promotional events for the circuit and television, can be undertaken. This decision has so far also been welcomed by promoters and operators, who seek to benefit from the arrangement, and who according to Ezpeleta must be compensated equally.
