Pusarla Venkata Sindhu popularly known as PV Sindhu (born 5 July 1995) is an Indian professional badminton player. Considered one of India's most successful sportspersons, Sindhu has won medals at various tournaments such as the Olympics and on the BWF circuit, including a gold at the 2019 World Championships.
She is the first and only Indian to become the badminton world champion and only the second individual athlete from India to win two consecutive medals at the Olympic Games. She rose to a career-high world ranking of no. 2 in April 2017.

1. PV Sindhu was born on 5th July 1995, to P. V. Ramana and P. Vijaya. Both her parents are former professional Volleyball players and her Ramana was also conferred with the Arjuna Award for his achievements in Volleyball.

In 2015, PV Sindhu entered the final of a Super Series event called the Denmark Open.
In August 2016, PV Sindhu became the first Indian woman to enter an Olympic final after defeating Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in Rio Olympics the semi-finals.

In 2016, PV Sindhu became the first Indian badminton player to win an Olympics silver medal. To help her focus on training for the Olympics, her coach Pullela Gopichand took her phone away from her for a whole three months.

PV Sindhu's biggest competition is not one of the badminton greats - it's someone much closer to her. Shortly before the Olympics, PV Sindhu took to Instagram to share a video which shows her going up against her "toughest competition" - her pint-sized nephew Aaryan. "He also happens to be my biggest supporter," she clarified.
