US decides to extend its vaccine rules till April, Novak Djokovic will be out of Sunshine Double.
US officials on vaccine rules have decided to extend the rules until April in the new year. Since Djokovic has not been vaccinated and will probably not take the vaccine, he will be out of the Sunshine Double.
Last year, Djokovic missed the US Open and three Masters tournaments in the US - Indian Wells, Miami and Cincinnati - for not getting vaccinated.
Djokovic has no regrets on his decision.
Djokovic still remains hopeful that US officials will change the vaccine rule in the second half of the year, in time for the US Open.
Djokovic, who won his 21st Grand Slam title at Wimbledon, had no chance to compete for his 22nd Grand Slam title at the US Open. In Djokovic's absence, 19-year-old Carlos Alcaraz took advantage to win his first Grand Slam title.
