Rohit Sharma: 1st Indian to Hit 300 ODI Sixes in 2023 WC

Indian cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma created history in the ongoing 2023 Cricket World Cup clash between India and Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday 14th October.

During the thrilling clash, Rohit added another major milestone to his undefendable career as he became the first Indian batter ever to slam 300 sixes in ODI cricket.

Rohit joined Chris Gayle and Shahid Afridi in the elite list of players to hit more than 300 maximums in ODIs.

Rohit achieved this milestone after hammering Haris Rauf for a six in the ICC World Cup match against arch-rival Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday.

Rohit has featured in just 254 contests in the ODI format of the game. With 351 sixes in 308 games, former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi still leads the tally, while West Indies legend Chris Gayle hammered 331 maximums in 301 encounters.

Notable during India's match against Afghanistan, he topped Chris Gayle with 554 maximums to become the player with the most sixes in international cricket.

Rohit reached the landmark in 453 matches, precisely 30 games less than Gayle. "Universe Boss is Universe Boss". I have taken a leaf out of his book. Over the years, we have seen him, such a six-hitting machine he is wherever he plays, said Rohit.

"We wear the same jersey (No. 45). I am sure he is happy about it because jersey No. 45 has done it (breaking his record)," said Rohit in a video posted by the BCCI. Rohit said a lot of work has gone into developing his six-hitting skills over the years.
