The world's best players gather again this week at Augusta National Golf Club for the first of the four major championships of the year.

Will an unannounced player show up at the tournament as it has happened before at the Masters' tournament and will likely happen again?

World No.1 Scottie Scheffler arrives at Augusta aiming to become the first man since Tiger Woods in 2002 to successfully the title, but he'll have to overcome an extended golf course and in-form rivals Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm.

Here are the five renowned players to watch out for at the 2023 Masters Tournament.

The top three players in the world will also face competition from Tiger Woods in Georgia, who will tee it up for the first time since February's Genesis Invitational and 26 years after his first Masters' win.

The 2023 Masters will kick off from April 6-9 which includes 18 men who have slipped on the Green Jacket before. That includes Phil Mickelson, playing his first Masters in two years, and LIV colleagues Dustin Johnson, Bubba Watson, Patrick Reed, Sergio Garcia, and Charl Schwartzel.

According to Masters chairman Fred Riudley, a total of 18 LIV players will play in the year's opening men's Major.

The tournament will also see 16 players make their Augusta debuts, including seven amateurs.

How do players qualify for The Master?

Previous winners of the Green Jacket are given a lifetime invitation back to Augusta National, with the winners of the other three men's majors receiving a five-year exemption. The winner of The Players receives a three-year exemption.

Those who finished inside the top-12 and ties during the previous year's tournament are invited back, along with those who finish in a share of fourth or better at the PGA Championship, US Open, and The Open.
