Cricket is the biggest sport in Southeast Asia it’s popularity is especially substantial in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, the former colonies of the British.

The two largest countries in the region are India and Bangladesh. Their matches always draw a huge number of people and end up being immensely exciting.

Indian cricket team will next face Bangladesh in the 17th match of the ICC World Cup 2023 at Pune's Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium on Thursday, October 19.

It’s sure to be a spectacle for the ages. Bangladesh has been getting better and better over the years and has given tough competition to every team.

So far, India have recorded three impressive wins in their opening three matches in the tournament and also leads in the points table.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh have lost back-to-back games after their win against Afghanistan. The Tigers lost by 137 runs against England and by 8 wickets against New Zealand.

They will look to avoid a third loss on the trot against India. The Tigers recently won the match against India in the Asia Cup 2023.

Team captain Shakib Al Hasan is suffering a minor quad injury but is likely to recover before the crucial game against India.

Rohit Sharma-led side has no injury concerns going into this game and is likely to field the same playing eleven that beat Pakistan by seven wickets.

India will be playing after a four-day break against Bangladesh. Meanwhile, Bangladesh will be playing after a five-day break.

Both teams have played 40 ODIs with India winning 31 and Bangladesh 8.

In World Cup Cricket, IND vs BAN contests have been played 4 times with India winning three games and Bangladesh one game. This will be the fifth IND vs BAN match in 50-over World Cups.

However, Bangladesh take some confidence in their recent encounters against India in ODIs. Bangladesh beat India in the Asia Cup 2023 group-stage game last month, the only ODI match played between two teams this year.

Bangladesh also stunned the Indian team during the most recent bilateral ODI series in December 2022. Bangladesh have won three of their last five ODI encounters against India and will be hopeful for another win in the upcoming game.
