Over the years, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has been known to unearth mystery spinners - Suyash Sharma is the latest addition to the list.

Making the most of the 'Impact Player rule' in their recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Virat Kohli-starrer Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) unleashed youngster Suyash Sharma at the monumental Eden Gardens on Thursday.

Suyash Sharma made a mark for himself in his debut IPL game, picking up the wickets of Dinesh Karthik, Anuj Rawat, and tail-ender Karn Sharma, and helped Kolkata defeat Faf du Plessis’ side by 81 runs here on Thursday.

Suyash Sharma, a teenage prodigy from Delhi who is yet to play senior-level cricket. At the tender age of 19, when most people contemplate career choices, Suyash was bamboozling the opposition batters with his mystery spin.

Like most people in the country, Suyash began his cricketing journey by playing endless hours of gully cricket before joining a club in Delhi. The 19-year-old is known for his leg spin bowling and some big hits down the order.

Chandrakant's KKR was the only IPL side that bid for Suyash at the IPL 2023 auction. He was roped in by the two-time champions at his base price of INR 20 lakh.

Chandrakant expressed his feeling towards Suyash and exclaimed that: "We saw him in trial matches and were extremely happy with the way he bowled. He's quick through the air and difficult to pick. He's inexperienced but shows a very good attitude."

KKR's captain Nitish Rana also shared that he's a normal leg-spinner with an X-factor.

"Suyash is not a mystery spinner but a normal leg-spinner. But yes, there is an X-factor. His arm speed is very fast, and that troubles batters. His action is also not easy to pick. He is also quick in the air, and if the batter doubts picking him, then there is trouble."

Rana has said that Suyash will be team's first choice in case a third spinner after Narine and Charavarthy are required in a match.
