The IPL 2024 kicked off with an exciting match between CSK and RCB, where CSK clinched a thrilling victory by 6 wickets in a fiercely contested game.

IPL 2024 brings with it the excitement of new talents making their debut on the grand stage, aiming to leave a lasting impression.

Yet, for a few seasoned veterans, this edition might mark their last appearance in the IPL.

IPL 2024 will see some exciting debutants taking the stage for the first time. However, established stars like MS Dhoni and Faf du Plessis could be gearing up for their final IPL season with their respective franchises.

Here's a unique and simple list of five players who might retire after IPL 2024:

1) Shikhar Dhawan (Punjab Kings), Age: 38-years-old

This 38-year-old southpaw batsman has experienced highs and lows in both his personal and professional journey.

Despite facing inconsistency in his international performances, this 38-year-old has showcased impressive skills in IPL matches, amassing 6617 runs in 217 games at an average of 35.39.

However, with Punjab Kings focusing on young talent, there's a likelihood that he may retire to create opportunities for emerging players.

2) Dinesh Karthik (Royal Challengers Bangalore), Age: 38-years-old

Renowned for his ability to make comebacks, this 38-year-old batting star has a knack for adapting to different roles based on the team's needs and situation.

Playing the role of a finisher for RCB, this veteran has excelled in the past two seasons. However, with the emergence of players like Rajat Patidar and Cameron Green for the same role, there's a possibility he might retire after this IPL.

3) Faf du Plessis (Royal Challengers Bangalore), Age: 39-years-old

The 39-year-old batter currently serves as the captain of the RCB squad and could potentially lead the team for the final time.

With Cameron Green's addition, RCB may contemplate appointing him as their new captain next season. This decision could mean that Faf du Plessis might not feature in the team in the upcoming season.

4) Amit Mishra (Delhi Capitals), Age: 41-years-old

At 41 years old, Amit Mishra holds the title of the oldest spinner in IPL 2024. He showcased consistent and impressive performances for Lucknow Super Giants in the previous IPL season.

Mishra ranks as the 4th highest wicket-taker in IPL history. Despite his successful career, he has faced numerous injuries. Reports suggest that IPL 2024 might mark the end of his illustrious journey in the tournament.

5) MS Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings), Age: 42-years-old

This legendary wicketkeeper-batsman holds the record for being the most successful IPL captain with five IPL trophies, showcasing his remarkable achievements throughout his career.

Since retiring from international cricket in 2020, there has been much speculation about his IPL retirement too.

Reports suggest that CSK and MS Dhoni have been in talks regarding the team's future. Considering his age and injuries, there's a possibility we may not see MS Dhoni in the IPL next year.
