i) YoussoufaMoukoko – 17,Borussia Dortmund (Striker)
The fast pacedGerman youngster, known for his left-foot precision, exploitation of the penalty box, and accuracy of finish has already made his mark in the German under-21 contingent. With improvements to his spontaneity, the teen can be expected to get lucrative offers on the termination of his contract in 2023.
ii) Rafael Leao – 23,AC Milan (Forward/Striker)
The 23-year-old Portuguese has had a smashing season at AC Milan’s winning campaign with 14 goals and 12 assists. His flexibility as a left winger and centre forward, together with his defensive play and tactical skill, have not only made him a threat for opponent teams, but can also make it a challenge for AC Milan to hold onto him.
iii) Benjamin Sesko – 19,FC Salzburg (Striker)
The tall Slovenian is FC Salzburg’s newest star – a team that has also produced ErlingHaaland, Sadio Mane and Karim Adeyemi. His wide movement and acceleration, and the ability to trick his marker has clearly impressed the scouts at RB Leipzig - who despite his occasional tendencies to lose the ball and not fully exploit his physical traits - have signed him starting 2023.
iv) KhvichaKvaratskhelia – 21, Napoli (Forward)
The versatile Georgian, who has filled in the void created with the recent departures of club favourites Lorenzo Insigne and Dries Mertens, has raised high expectations among both club loyalists and fans in his homeland. With energetic play-making, the young forward is also seen to balance attempts on target with dribbling and defense.
v) Gabriel Veron – 19, FC Porto (Forward)
While this Brazilian is yet to display sustained performances suitable for the first team, he has raised high hopes with his history, which includes winning the Golden Ball at the under-17 World Cup in 2019. His pace, ability to creatively breach the oppositions defense and his accuracy of passes, make him an invaluable addition to his team, and a player to watch out for in Portugal.
vi) Harvey Elliot – 19, Liverpool (Attacking Midfielder)
The patient British youngster – who lost much of his last season to an ankle injury – is comfortable playing both wide and centrally, and known to disrupt the opposition with his passing skills, and the creation of opportunities that drive the ball forward. It remains to be seen how he uses his attacking midfielder skills - playing alongside Mo Salah - in the upcoming season.
vii) Brennan Johnson – 21, Nottingham Forest (Forward)
While there is room for improvement, the versatile Welsh youngster has already made his mark with his speed, and ability to tackle the defense and his markers while retaining the ball. With Nottingham Forest in the Premier League this season, fans are eager to see the impact he can create, with his speed and decision making.
viii) William Saliba – 21, Arsenal (Centre-Back)
Fresh from a successful loan season at Marseille, the French national has garnered high hopes with his impressive pass completion rate of 94%, which signals massive improvement from his former game, where he was labelled an apprehensive defender, lacking in confidence. With his honed defensive skills, Saliba may well be among the defenders to watch out for this season.
ix) Enzo Fernandez – 21, Benfica (Central Midfield)
While the Argentinian is new to European football, he has shown promise with demonstration of both finesse and power. With skillful deep passes , and decision making that coordinate team play, the young midfielder has played a crucial role in his team, which is known for nurturing talent. The playmaker is thus expected to land an impressive signing , if he keeps up his form.
x) Cody Gakpo – 23, PSV Eindhoven (Forward)
The Dutch winger has demonstrated extraordinary attacking football last season, with 21 goals, and 15 assists in 46 games. With a fast pace that allows him to play both wide and deep, powerful shots and deceptive defensive skills that recover the ball when lost, this youngster is expected to change teams soon.
xi) Charles De Ketelaere – 21, AC Milan (Attacking Midfield/Forward)
The tall Belgian youngster, who has had a winning season with the Serie A champions, preceded by an excellent season with Club Brugge, has raised high expectations. His skillful control, especially around the penalty area, along with his spontaneity and physical prowess, often helps in successfully retaining the ball in individual challenges by markers. While his role on the field is yet to be cemented, one can expect some dynamic performances from the youngster in Serie A.
xii) Jurrien Timber – 21, Ajax (Centre/Right-Back)
While many team members have left the Dutch team this summer, this fast-paced defender has stayed loyal so far. With great decision-making, and an ability to predict the opponent’s moves, this versatile youngsteris able to successfully win the ball back with a minimal number of fouls. Coupled with his potential to play as both a centre-back and right-back, Timber is expected to rouse the attention of other European teams in the future.
xiii) Jeremy Doku – 20, Rennes (Forward)
When he is not dogged by injuries this Belgian youngster has demonstrated high paced and accurate dribbling,both on his right and the left of the midfield. With quick changes that can deceive opponents, and his ball carrying ability, this is one talented forward to watch out for.
xiv) Carney Chukwuemek – 18, Chelsea (Central-Midfield)
With an impressive performance in England’s winning team at the under-19 European Championship, this young midfielder has already impressed with his technical finesse, physical prowess and ability to carry the ball forward and finish accurately. His smooth and dynamic play will have an opportunity to make a mark this season with Chelsea.
xv) Piero Hincapie – 20, Bayer Leverkusen (Centre-Back/Left-Back)
The fast-paced Ecuadorian defender has impressed football lovers with his maiden Bundesliga season. With a skilled left foot, and courageous defensive moves that can surprise the opponents , along with precision passing and the ability to take initiative, this his calm youngster has demonstrated great potential for the season ahead.
