Grade-wise list of India Women contracts - BCCI.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the Annual Player Contracts for the Senior Women India Cricket Team for the 2022-23 season.

The list featured 17 players and they were divided into three grades- Grade A, B, and C.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana and all-rounder Deepti Sharma have earned the top A-grade in the BCCI Central contract list for the upcoming season.

The players in the top bracket have been cut down from five last year to three, with Rajeshwari Gayakwad dropping to Grade B and Poonam Yadav missing out on a central contract altogether.

A whole host of fresh names find themselves in Grade B, including youngsters Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh, and Shafali Verma.

The former two, along with Renuka Thakur, make a jump from Grade C to Grade B after their impressive showings over the last year, especially the 2022 Women's World Cup and the 2023 T20 World Cup.

Many fresh faces have been rewarded with their maiden central contract in the Grade C category.

Meghna Singh, Devika Vaidya, Sabbineni Meghana, Anjali Sarvani, Radha Yadav and Yastika Bhatia. Sneh Rana and Harleen Deol retain their place on the list while Pooja Vastrakar drops a grade.

Amongst the names completely missing from the annual player, retainers are Indian legends Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami, both of whom announced their retirement over the course of last year.

The biggest omission was Shikha Pandey, who does not feature in the 17 player-list to be handed a contract. She had recently picked up 10 wickets in the Women's Premier League and also played for India in the Women's T20 World Cup in February.

Earlier, BCCI had announced that the women's team will get their match fees at par with the men's team. However, they haven't mentioned about salaries of the women cricketers in the annual contract in the recent release.

As per the last announced annual contract by the BCCI for the 2020-21 season, the women players were awarded Rs 50 lakh (Grade A), Rs 30 lakh (Grade B), and Rs 10 lakh (Grade C). Notably, the men's annual contracts are divided as Grade A+ - Rs 7 crore, Grade A - Rs 5 crore, Grade B - Rs 3 crore, and Grade C - Rs 1 crore.
