Djokovic’s recent fortunes

Novak Djokovic has had bumpy fortunes recently, but the Serbian tennis star has remained resilient. Firstly, due to the exclusion of Russian and Belarusian players, the ATP decided that the 2022 Wimbledon would not include any points for players.

This has hurt Djokovic and Kyrgios the most, who were the champion and the runner-up respectively. Prior to this Djokovic had already missed several tournaments including the Australian Open, Cincinnati Open, Canada Open and the New York Open, on account of being unvaccinated against Covid-19, which subsequently cost Djokovic the ability to defend his 5200 points.

However, the tennis star remains resilient and does not regret the gap following his Wimbledon performance as it allowed him to take an extended break.

Djokovic has now returned to the tennis court with renewed vigour, to win the Astana Open, his 90^th career title. His losses have been rare and except for a defeat to Nadal at the French Open, the player confessed to being happy with his current form while hoping to sustain it for the rest of the season. According to him, he is living his dream of playing high level tennis, regardless of the number of titles and ranking.
