Sub-5 Second Quarter Mile benchmark achieved by world’s fastest bike
French motorcycle drag racing legend Eric “Rocketman” Teboul’s
true passion for his sport is reflected in his relentless efforts to perform
better and set the bar ever higher. At the FIA/FIM European Drag Racing Finals
at Santa Pod Raceway, he retired in style, after setting the world record for
the fastest time taken for a quarter mile, with 4.976 seconds. This was after
achieving a new world record and a career-best time of 5.066 seconds, the
previous day.
In both outings, he used his famed “rocket” bike, which is
fuelled by hydrogen peroxide, a fuel that he mixes himself, and it had
impressed the biking world in 2019 when it achieved a speed of 220 miles/hour,
to complete a quarter mile in 5.64 seconds. It has not disappointed him 3 years
later, where after breaking the elusive 5 second barrier, Teboulhad to wait for
his bike to run out of propellant for it to come to a hault.Though his
performances appear to be final parting tributes to his love of the sport,
Teboul’s fans are unsure about his retirement, as he has hinted at it earlier
as well. However, this time he has certainly set a mark that will be difficult
to beat.
