Former England rugby coach, Eddie Jones looking to coach
Former England rugby coach Eddie Jones has stated that he is
ready to coach at an international level again and has considered doing so for
Australia. Recently sacked by England after losing to France, Ireland, and
Scotland as well as only one victory in four Tests in fall, he has been touted
as a possible replacement for Australia’s coach, Dave Rennie.
According to Jones,
he wants to return to coaching as he loves the sport and coaching it, rather
than to coach England’s rival teams. He had also hoped to coach the English
team at the 2023 World Cup, and now wishes the team the best. Several players
have voiced support for him, including team captain Owen Farrell who has
described his sacking as “unbelievably disappointing”.
Jones has also described how he has good memories of the
team, who according to him are a good squad, who both train and relax hard, and
are proud to represent England. However, he has no regrets for any of his coaching
decisions, including giving the Rugby World Cup the most importance, and feels
that the decision to sack him preceded his discussion of future plans. At the
age of 62, while he is sad to not be able to achieve his dreams for the English
team, he is going strong and hopes that he can remain a part of international
rugby coaching.
