England Test: McCullum & Stokes Journey Recap Since 2022
England's recent cricket journey under coach Brendon McCullum and captain Ben Stokes has been a mix of highs and lows. Let's take a look at their record since they took charge in 2022.
Their journey began with a fantastic series win against New Zealand in June 2022. England won all three Tests by successfully chasing down challenging fourth-innings targets.
However, they faced a setback in the first Test against South Africa, losing by an innings. But they bounced back strongly, winning the second Test and eventually clinching the series 2-1.
In the winter, England displayed dominance by winning 3-0 against Pakistan, with a remarkable first-innings total of 657 in less than four sessions. They then shared a series with New Zealand, drawing 1-1.
The Ashes series last summer ended in a thrilling draw, with Australia retaining the urn. Both teams showcased their skills, and England emerged with pride.
Under Stokes and McCullum's leadership, England also won a rearranged fifth Test against India and defeated Ireland in a one-off Test before the Ashes.
Stokes has shown remarkable leadership, boasting a winning record of 60.9% in Test matches as captain. He has won 14, lost 8, and drawn 1 out of 23 Tests. His personal performances have been noteworthy, contributing 1,342 runs at an average of 36.27 as captain. Although his bowling has been limited due to injuries, he has taken 29 wickets at an average of 28.17.
As their journey continues, Stokes and McCullum aim to lead England to further success on the cricket field.
