Carl Froch finds his place in the International Boxing Hall of Fame
Carl Froch has been included in the latest
list of 10 boxers to be inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
The middleweight boxer from Nottingham held the WBC, WBA and IBF titles during
a career that spanned 12 years. Froch’s very first title victory was against
Jean Pascal in 2008, and among his only losses are his defeat to Andre Ward for
the 168-pound title, and Mikkel Kessler. Other boxers to be inducted included
Mexican boxer Laura Serrano, who is the nation’s first female boxing champion,
and the first woman to be inducted, along with Alicia Ashley, a Jamaican boxer
who won a title at 48 and was active in the ring till the age of 50.
Other non-boxer inductees included Brad
Goodman, who was Top Rank’s matchmaker for 40 years, Brad Jacobs who was Top
Rank’s COO since 2010, and trainer and broadcaster Joe Goossen. Television
executive Seth Abraham and American boxing commenator Tim Ryan were also
inducted as observers, while Pone Kingpetch, JoAnn Hagen and Tiger Jack Johnson
were inducted posthumously. All inductees were selected after voting by the
Boxing Writers’ Association of America.
