West Ham has signed Mohammed Kudus from Ajax for £38m.
West Ham United is delighted to announce the completion of signing Ghana international, Mohammed Kudus from Ajax for a reported fee of £38m in the final stretch of this year's summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old attacking midfielder has signed a five-year contract with the option of a further 12 months at the Premier League side, West Ham.
A strong all-round player and prolific dribbler capable of making and scoring goals, Kudus has established himself as one of European football’s most sought-after young players. Now, he has brought his talents to the London Stadium.
“I’ve been dreaming of playing in a league like this since I was a kid,” said Kudus, who will wear the No14 shirt at West Ham.
Coach David Moyes is looking forward to working with Kudus, who scored four goals in six UEFA Champions League group-stage appearances for Ajax last season.
Kudus is a terrific young talent, who has already shone at the very highest level for Ajax in the Champions League and made well over 150 senior appearances at the age of 23 – so it was no surprise to see so many top clubs chasing his signature this summer.
Kudus' final appearance for Ajax saw him score a hat-trick in the club's Europa League play-off win over Ludogrets in Bulgaria on Thursday. He leaves the Dutch outfit having scored 27 times in 87 appearances, helping them to two Eredivise titles during three seasons.
