Transfer Triumph: Kalvin Phillips Joins West Ham on Loan from Manchester City.
West Ham has secured the services of Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips on a season-long loan deal.
The loan deal for 28-year-old England international Kalvin Phillips doesn't include an option to buy.
Phillips, who signed a six-year contract with Manchester City in July 2022 after a £45 million move from Leeds United, expressed his excitement about joining West Ham for the second half of the season.
"There's so much to look forward to in the second half of the season for the club, and I can't wait to be part of it," said Phillips.
He added, "There's an unbelievable group here, and if I can come in and add the quality that I know I'm capable of, I'm sure we can give the West Ham fans plenty to be excited about between now and the end of the season."
During his 18 months at Manchester City, Kalvin Phillips faced challenges in getting playing time, making only two starts and a total of 16 Premier League appearances under manager Pep Guardiola.
Other clubs, including Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, and Juventus, had also shown interest in Phillips.
The loan signing is a positive development for West Ham manager David Moyes, who has been looking to bolster his squad due to a series of injuries.
Notably, key players such as Lucas Paqueta and Michail Antonio are currently sidelined for an extended period.
Additionally, Mexico midfielder Edson Alvarez missed the FA Cup defeat against Bristol City due to a calf problem.
