Prop. Harry Williams confirmed his move to Montpellier.
French Top 14 club Montpellier is overwhelmed to announce the signing of former England prop Harry Williams from English side Exeter.
Harry Williams has signed a deal to join his Exeter teammates Luke Cowan-Dickie and Sam Simmonds playing in the Top 14 at Montpellier next season.
Williams will become the sixth player to depart Sandy Park at the end of the season, with Jannes Kirsten moving to the Bulls, Dave Ewers to Ulster and Joe Simmonds to Pau.
At 6’4” and almost 20 stone, the long-haired tight-head certainly fits the bill as one of England’s top-performing tight-heads.
His impressive on-field form was noted from afar by England head coach Eddie Jones, who initially called him into his squad for their summer tour to Argentina in 2017.
Since then, Williams has been a regular feature in England squads, featuring in Autumn internationals, as well as the Six Nations Championship, although his omission from Jones’ squad for the Rugby World Cup in Japan, however, was something of a surprise.
Williams bounced back from that setback to help the Chiefs record a historic double success in 2020, helping them to lift the Premiership for a second time, as well as the Heineken Champions Cup.
