Racing 92 Secures Owen Farrell: England and Saracens Fly-Half Joins Squad.
Racing 92 has just revealed that they've signed England and Saracens fly-half Owen Farrell, effective at the end of the season.
Owen Farrell, the Saracens captain and former England captain, has recently signed a two-year deal with the French Top 14 side Racing 92, set to commence on July 1. This marks a significant move in his career, having spent his entire professional career at Saracens.
In November, Farrell announced a break from international rugby to prioritize his mental wellbeing and stepped down as the captain of the England rugby team. His teammate, Jamie George, has since taken on the role of leading England in the upcoming Six Nations.
Throughout his career, Farrell has achieved significant success with England, winning three Six Nations titles, including a Grand Slam in 2016.
He was also part of the team that reached the 2019 World Cup final but suffered a defeat to South Africa.
Farrell will be joining Racing 92, where he will reunite with former England head coach Stuart Lancaster, who gave him his international debut in the 2012 Six Nations against Scotland.
At Saracens, Farrell made over 200 appearances and won six Premiership titles and three European Rugby Champions Cups.
Despite Saracens' relegation to the Championship in the 2020-21 season due to salary cap breaches, Farrell stayed with the team and was appointed captain in 2021. In May of the same year, he led Saracens to their sixth Premiership title at Twickenham.
Having played a key role in Saracens' successes, including kicking all 21 points in the 2016 European final against Racing 92, Farrell has been a prominent figure in English and European rugby.
He has also been part of the British & Irish Lions tours, with his father, Andy Farrell, currently serving as the coach for the 2025 Lions tour of Australia.
