St. Johnstone FC has signed former Chelsea defender Sam McClelland in this summer transfer.
The Scottish Premiership club, St. Johnstone is delighted to announce the completion of signing experienced defender, Sam McClelland in this summer transfer window following his exit from Chelsea.
The tricky defender, Sam McClelland has agreed with the terms and has signed a two-year contract with the Scottish Premiership club.
He joined Chelsea's youth system in 2018 and earned his one and only Northern Ireland cap in a friendly against Ukraine in 2021.
In the final year of his contract with Chelsea, McClelland spent a fruitful loan season with League 2 side Barrow, making over 30 appearances.
The young defender has also proven himself at the international level, having played for Northern Ireland at various youth stages.
Sam spoke of how delighted he was to sign for St Johnstone: “I’m so happy to be here and get the deal over the line. I first heard about a potential move around a week or so ago and I was immediately interested in coming here. I’m really looking forward to getting started."
“I like defending but I also feel I’m comfortable on the ball as well. I’m here to defend, keep clean sheets and get wins for the team.”
