Chelsea Acquires Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester in £30m Deal.
Chelsea has signed midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City for £30 million.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, a 25-year-old graduate of Leicester City's academy, has signed a six-year contract with Chelsea, keeping him at the club until 2030.
The £30 million transfer was finalized just before the Premier League profit and sustainability rules deadline, aiding Leicester in meeting financial guidelines.
"It's incredible to be a Chelsea player," said Dewsbury-Hall. "This is a club many dream of playing for, and it's a privilege to be here."
He reunites with manager Enzo Maresca, who joined Chelsea after winning the Championship with Leicester last season.
Dewsbury-Hall scored 12 goals and provided 12 assists in 44 league games last season, earning Leicester's player of the season and players' player of the season honors.
Dewsbury-Hall is Chelsea's fourth summer signing, following Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham, Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa, and Marc Guiu from Barcelona.
Sale eases Leicester's PSR concerns
Leicester City can now breathe a sigh of relief after Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's £30 million transfer to Chelsea was finalized over the weekend. This deal is expected to be included in Leicester's 2023-24 accounts, helping to ease their PSR concerns.
Additionally, the club received £10 million in compensation for former manager Enzo Maresca's move to Chelsea, totaling £40 million.
This financial boost increases confidence that Leicester can avoid breaching PSR rules, which prohibit clubs from losing more than £105 million over three years.
However, Leicester still faces a charge from the Premier League for an alleged breach in their previous three top-flight seasons.
Although frustrated by their referral to an independent commission, the club remains committed to cooperating with the process, hoping for a favorable outcome similar to Nottingham Forest, whose penalty for breaching PSR was reduced by two points last season.
