Man City Secure Shimizu Transfer from West Ham.
Manchester City have made a significant addition to their squad by signing Japan international Risa Shimizu from West Ham on a three-year deal.
The dynamic defender, known for her speed and versatility, is expected to bring a new level of energy and skill to City's backline.
Shimizu's impressive performances in the Women's Super League have caught the eye of many, and her move to Manchester is seen as a strategic boost for the team's upcoming campaigns.
Fans are eagerly anticipating the impact of this exciting signing as City aims for greater success in the league and beyond.
Shimizu, 27, was out of contract in June after declining an extension offer from West Ham. The defender quickly became a key player, starting every match in her first season at West Ham since joining in 2022.
At Manchester City, Shimizu will reunite with Japan teammate Yui Hasegawa and is the club's second signing of the summer, following Netherlands striker Vivianne Miedema.
"First of all, it'll be a challenge, but one I'm ready for," Shimizu said. "City play football with a high possession style, which I like. I think I'm technically good and calm with the ball in possession, so I think I'll play well in City's style. I can't wait to get started and hopefully lift the trophy with my new teammates."
Shimizu's move to Manchester City gives her the chance to play Champions League football and compete for silverware.
