Sergio Busquets has confirmed to join Major League Soccer (MLS) club Inter Miami.
Major League Soccer (MLS) club Inter Miami is delighted to announce the signing of Spain legend Sergio Busquets from the La Liga club, Barcelona.
With the signing, Sergio Busquets will team up with former Barca team-mate Lionel Messi at the Major League Soccer club.
Busquets' contract with Barca expires at the end of June and, after announcing his decision to end his 18-year stay at Spotify Camp Nou, he has been receiving offers from the United States and Saudi Arabia.
Sergio Busquets joining will be Inter Miami's second major addition in less than a month.
The team has officially confirmed that Sergio Busquets is expected to make his Major League Soccer debut in a home game on July 21.
Busquets arrived at Barcelona in 2005 and has played 722 matches for the club, putting him third all-time behind Xavi and record-holder Messi.
One of the best defensive midfielders Barcelona has had, Busquets has scored 18 goals and had 40 assists. He has been the team captain for the last two seasons.
Busquets has been a central part of Barcelona's successes in the past 15 years, including nine Spanish league titles and three Champions League triumphs.
Busquets played a key role behind Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez in an iconic midfield trio, and the three of them also won the World Cup with Spain in 2010.
The 34-year-old made 143 appearances for Spain before announcing his retirement from the team in December.
