Premier League club, Arsenal have officially confirmed the completion of signing Netherlands defender, Jurrien Timber from Ajax in this summer transfer.

Arsenal has committed to pay £34m as the transfer fee to Ajax for the tricky defender.

He becomes Arsenal’s second summer signing and joins Kai Havertz in moving to the Emirates Stadium.

He played under Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag at Ajax and had been linked with a reunion last summer before putting pen to paper at the Emirates Stadium.

Timber won two Eredivisie titles in 121 appearances for Ajax and was part of the Netherlands squad that reached the quarter-finals of last year's World Cup.

He can operate at both center-back and right-back and will bring added depth to an Arsenal defense that struggled to cope with injuries to William Saliba and Takehiro Tomiyasu toward the end of last season.

Timber will now travel with the rest of the Arsenal squad for their pre-season fixtures in the United States.

The team will depart on Sunday but it remains to be seen if Declan Rice will be part of the initial party as his transfer from West Ham has yet to be completed.
