Brighton Breaks Record with £40M Signing of Rutter.
Brighton has signed French forward Georginio Rutter from Leeds for a club-record fee of £40 million.
The 22-year-old French forward Georginio Rutter has joined Brighton on a five-year contract.
Rutter previously scored eight goals in 66 appearances for Leeds, having transferred from Hoffenheim in January 2023 for a then-record £36 million.
Brighton’s technical director, David Weir, expressed enthusiasm about the signing, stating that Rutter is a strong technical player they've been tracking for some time. "We’re excited to bring him to the club and look forward to his continued development with us," Weir said.
Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler, the Premier League’s youngest boss at 31, also praised Rutter’s potential. "Georginio has the ability to excite fans and proved his talent at Leeds last season. I’ve followed his progress since his time at Hoffenheim, and now we’re eager to integrate him into the team and work with him," Hurzeler added.
