Soumaila Coulibaly stepped close to joining Burnley from Borussia Dortmund on a loan deal.
Soumaila Coulibaly is set to leave Borussia Dortmund, with newly promoted English Premier League side Burnley ahead of the new season.
The defender will join Burnley on a loan deal with a mandatory buy clause. The Black and Yellows will apparently receive a total fee in the region of 15 million euros.
Coulibaly joined Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in 2021, but injuries and high competition for places prevented him from getting a real opportunity in the first-team.
Despite being with Dortmund for two seasons, the young defender has only featured in two senior matches.
One of these appearances came in the Champions League, while the other was in the Bundesliga.
Due to injuries and fierce competition within Dortmund’s squad, Coulibaly found limited opportunities with the first team.
Most of his game time came with the BVB U-23 team in the 3. Liga.
However, his move to Burnley presents an opportunity for the defender to secure more playing time and valuable experience.
The French defender played 16 matches for Dortmund’s second team, as they finished 13th last season.
