Manchester United Acquires Yoro from Lille for £52 Million.
Manchester United have signed French defender Leny Yoro from Lille for €62 million (£52.18 million), with an additional €8 million (£6.73 million) in potential add-ons. The contract runs until 2029.
The 18-year-old centre-back Leny Yoro has signed a five-year contract with Manchester United, with an option for an extra year.
Yoro, who debuted for Lille at 16, had attracted interest from Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Liverpool.
Last season, he made 32 league appearances, scored twice, and helped Lille finish fourth, earning a spot in the Ligue 1 team of the season.
Yoro said, "Joining a club with Manchester United's stature and ambition so early in my career is an incredible honor."
Yoro made 44 appearances for Lille across all competitions last season, helping the team reach the Europa Conference League quarter-finals before they were eliminated by Aston Villa on penalties.
His signing follows Manchester United's acquisition of forward Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for £36.5 million and comes as the club seeks to strengthen their central defense.
United's sporting director, Dan Ashworth, commented, "Leny is one of the most exciting young defenders in world football; he has all the attributes needed to become a top-class centre-back."
Manchester United have made two unsuccessful bids for Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite, with the Toffees reportedly valuing him at over £75 million.
