Lyon has agreed to sign Ainsley Maitland-Niles following his exit from Arsenal.
England international, Ainsley Maitland-Niles has confirmed to join Ligue 1 club Lyon on a free transfer following his departure from Arsenal.
The versatile midfielder left Arsenal after his contract expired at the end of June.
He was linked with moves to Everton, West Ham, Sheffield United and Crystal Palace.
But he decided he wanted a fresh start and has followed in the footsteps of other Arsenal stars by moving to Ligue 1, including Folarin Balogun.
Maitland-Niles has penned a four-year deal with Lyon where he will link back up with Alexandre Lacazette.
The 25-year-old, Ainsley Maitland-Niles has spent close to 20 years at Arsenal after joining the club's academy as a six-year-old. He progressed through the ranks and made over 130 senior appearances for the club but was never really able to nail down a regular spot in the team.
After a disappointing loan spell at Southampton last term, Maitland-Niles and Arsenal parted ways last month upon the expiration of his contract - and the midfielder is set to embark on a new challenge in France after deciding against another Premier League move.
