Josh Maja confirmed his move to West Brom following his exit from French second-tier side Bordeaux.
West Brom is overwhelmed to announce the completion of signing ex-Sunderland, Fulham, and Stoke striker Josh Maja following his departure from French second-tier side Bordeaux.
The striker, who left Bordeaux this summer as a free agent has agreed with the terms and has signed a three-year contract with West Brom.
Maja, who made his name at Sunderland before making the move to France with Bordeaux in 2019, scored 17 times in all competitions last season for the Ligue 2 outfit and will now return to England to bolster Carlos Corberan's attack, with just Brandon Thomas-Asante the only fit central striker option the Spaniard has to choose from.
Born in London, the Nigerian made his football debut for Sunderland in the Carabao Cup at 17. He played with them in the Championship and League One.
In the first half of the 2018-19 season, the Super Eagles netted 15 goals from 24 league matches. That caught the attention of French side Bordeaux.
The forward was to later team up with them in 2019 January. Maja also had loan spells with Fulham and Stoke City after that. Once done, he returned to the starting XI at the Matmut Atlantique.
The player joins his compatriot Semi Ajayi at the Hawthorns. Maja’s only appearance for the Super Eagles came in a September 2019 friendly against Ukraine.
He came in for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen during the 2-2 draw.
