PSG Lands Benfica Midfielder Neves in £50m Transfer.
Paris St-Germain has finalized the transfer of Benfica midfielder Joao Neves in a deal potentially worth up to £60m.
The 19-year-old Portugal international Joao Neves, previously linked with Manchester United, has signed a five-year contract with Paris St-Germain.
Neves emerged as a standout talent after breaking into Benfica’s first team in January last year, making 75 appearances and scoring four goals. The initial transfer fee is £50m, with potential add-ons pushing it to £60m.
His arrival comes as PSG seeks to adjust following the departure of star forward Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi praised Neves as "one of the most talented players in Portugal and internationally," noting his eagerness to join the club and his commitment to fight for the PSG jersey.
Joao Neves, who has earned nine caps for Portugal and featured in two games at this summer's European Championship in Germany, helping his team reach the quarter-finals, is thrilled about his move to Paris St-Germain.
"I'm very proud to join Paris St-Germain, a club with such ambitious goals," Neves said. "I’m committed to giving my all for my teammates, growing at this fantastic club, and winning numerous titles."
