Liverpool Break Club Record with Signing of Canadian Smith.
Liverpool has secured the signing of Canadian teenager Olivia Smith for a club-record fee of €250,000 (£210,000).
Liverpool prioritized the signing of Canadian teenager Olivia Smith this summer, securing her from Portuguese club Sporting CP by breaking her contract.
"I'm super-excited to join such a young and amazing team," Smith commented. "I feel I can contribute both on and off the pitch, pushing for a Champions League spot next season."
Liverpool's previous transfer record was around £100,000 for striker Sophie Roman Haug from Roma last year.
Smith, 19, plays as a forward or attacking midfielder for the Canadian national team.
She signed her first professional contract with Sporting CP in 2023, scoring and assisting on her league debut and winning Player of the Year and Young Player of the Season in Liga BPI with 13 goals in 18 appearances.
