Manchester United Women are delighted to announce the completion of signing Brazil international forward Geyse Da Silva Ferreira from Barcelona Women on a permanent transfer ahead of a crunch 2023-24 season in the WSL and Women’s Champions League.

Geyse, who represented Brazil at the World Cup and impressed against England in the Women's Finalissima at Wembley April, brings vital quality and experience to the squad as a Champions League winner with Barcelona in June.

On the international stage, Geyse and her Brazil side are current Copa America Femenina champions – after beating Colombia 1-0 in the 2022 final.

Geyse spent only one season at Barcelona after joining from Madrid CFF. She started 17 of the club's 17 Liga F fixtures, but rarely completed 90 minutes amid stiff competition and scored six goals.

The 25-year-old thrived in the Champions League, ultimately picking up a winner's medal, having scored four goals and assisting five – including against Chelsea in the semi-final – in 10 appearances.

Geyse arrives as a replacement for England forward Alessia Russo, who left United for Arsenal on a free transfer earlier this summer.

"I am very happy to be here," Geyse told the club's website after completing her move to the Women's Super League.

"Signing for United has been a very special day for me and my family. I am very grateful for this opportunity and thank everyone for making it happen."

She becomes the club's second signing of the summer following the arrival of Gemma Evans from Reading.
