Bournemouth Secures Chelsea's Kepa on Loan Deal.
Bournemouth have signed Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga on a loan deal for the season.
Kepa Arrizabalaga, 29, became the world’s most expensive goalkeeper when he joined Chelsea from Athletic Bilbao in 2018 for £71 million.
This week, the Spain international extended his Chelsea contract by a year, now running until 2026.
Kepa, who knows Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola from their time together at Bilbao, expressed his excitement about joining the club. "I am ready to be here and play in front of our fans. Hopefully, we can win something and have a great year," he said in an interview with Bournemouth’s YouTube channel.
Last season, Kepa was on loan at Real Madrid, making 20 appearances as a stand-in for the injured Thibaut Courtois and helping the team win La Liga and the Champions League.
By extending his contract, Chelsea avoids losing Kepa on a free transfer after his loan spell at Bournemouth.
