Declan Rice confirmed his departure from West Ham to join Arsenal for £105m.
West Hammers United finally confirmed the departure of their renowned midfielder, Declan Rice after agreeing to a club record fee of £105m with the Premier League club, Arsenal.
The deal surpassed the £72m Arsenal paid for Nicolas Pepe from Lille in 2019, while it is also a record transfer fee between two British clubs.
Manager Mikel Arteta had identified the England international as his top transfer target for the summer window but the north Londoners were initially frustrated in their pursuit.
But with the Hammers holding firm on their mammoth valuation, City decided to withdraw and Arsenal was able to agree a fixed fee of £100m plus a further £5m in add-ons.
He has signed a five-year deal to keep him at the club until 2028, with the option of a further year.
Rice is set to fly out to the United States with the Arsenal team on Sunday ahead of the club’s pre-season U.S. tour.
The 24-year-old's last game for the Hammers saw him lift the Europa Conference League trophy as captain, the club’s first silverware since the 1980 FA Cup.
He swaps east for north London having made 245 appearances and earned 43 England caps in that time.
