Marseille Secures Manchester United Forward Greenwood.
Marseille have signed forward Mason Greenwood from Manchester United on a contract until 2029, with the deal potentially reaching up to €31.6 million (£26.6 million).
Mason Greenwood, 22, who came through Manchester United's academy, has not played for the Premier League club since January 2022 and spent last season on loan at Getafe. Serious charges against him, including attempted rape and assault, were dropped in February 2023.
Marseille faced criticism from the city's mayor following the announcement of their signing of Greenwood.
Greenwood made his senior debut for United in 2019 as a substitute against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. He scored 35 goals in 129 appearances and earned one England cap in 2020.
In August 2023, United and Greenwood mutually agreed to part ways after a six-month internal review. Greenwood joined Getafe the following month, where he scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 36 appearances, helping to revive his career.
United, who wished Greenwood well on their website, have included a significant sell-on clause in their agreement with Marseille.
