Tottenham Secures Leeds Star Gray in £30m Transfer Deal.
Tottenham Hotspur has signed midfielder Archie Gray from Leeds United for around £30 million. As part of the deal, defender Joe Rodon moves to Leeds for about £10 million.
Gray has signed a contract with Tottenham until 2030, after Spurs met a release clause triggered by Leeds' failure to secure promotion.
The sale helps Leeds comply with profit and sustainability rules following their Championship play-off final loss to Southampton, which necessitated player sales.
Tottenham outbid Brentford for the 18-year-old, who played 52 matches for Leeds last season, covering both midfield and right-back positions.
Gray had started a medical at Brentford's training ground, but their bid, despite being of similar value, was rejected by Leeds due to issues with the payment structure and add-ons.
The England Under-21 international, who also qualifies for Scotland, is the great-nephew of Leeds legend Eddie Gray. Leeds agreed to his transfer "with a heavy heart."
