Eintracht Frankfurt has signed Robin Koch from Leeds United on a season-long loan.
Eintracht Frankfurt FC is overwhelmed to announce the signing of Robin Koch from Leeds United on a season-long loan in this summer transfer window.
With Leeds having suffered relegation from the Premier League on the final day of the previous campaign, it was inevitable that many players would be on the move this summer.
And, Koch was someone who was always likely to depart, as he was set to enter the final 12 months of his contract at Elland Road.
The 26-year-old German defender spent three seasons at Elland Road, making 77 appearances, including 73 in the English Premier League.
The right-footed defender helped keep them up twice, but was unable to prevent relegation to the EFL Championship this season just gone, in which he featured in 36 out of 38 fixtures.
Koch said on Instagram: “Dear LUFC fans, at this point I look back on three wonderful and exciting years in Leeds."
Leeds paid around £12 million ($15.3m) to sign him from Freiburg in 2020, shortly after their promotion from the Championship under Marcelo Bielsa.
Kaiserslautern-born Koch made his name during three years at Freiburg, where he was referred to as a “warrior” by coach Christian Streich and earned his first senior international call-up under Joachim Low in 2019.
