England's Carter Signs with NWSL Club Gotham.
England and Chelsea defender Jess Carter is heading to NJ/NY Gotham FC in the NWSL, marking an exciting new chapter in her career. The transfer fee remains undisclosed, but Carter's move promises to add significant talent to Gotham's lineup.
Her arrival is expected to make waves in the American league, bringing her experience and skill to the US side.
Jess Carter has signed with NJ/NY Gotham FC on a contract lasting until 2026. After spending six successful years with Chelsea, where she won the Women’s Super League five times, Carter is now bringing her talent to the NWSL.
The 26-year-old full-back, who previously played for Birmingham City, has been a key figure for the Lionesses under Sarina Wiegman. She was part of the Euro 2022-winning team and also competed in the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
Gotham FC, currently fourth in the NWSL, is excited about Carter’s arrival. “The club is playing at an incredible level right now in one of the toughest leagues in the world,” Carter said. Her fiancée, Germany goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger, also joined Gotham from Chelsea in April.
