Morgan Rogers Joins Aston Villa from Middlesbrough.
Aston Villa has secured the signing of forward Morgan Rogers from Middlesbrough in a deal reportedly worth around £15 million.
21-year-old Morgan Rogers, with seven goals and nine assists in 33 games for Middlesbrough this season, is now a part of Aston Villa.
Having moved from Manchester City for £1.5m last July, Rogers drew attention with three rejected bids from Villa before a £15 million deal was agreed upon.
Middlesbrough's owner, Steve Gibson, stood firm on his valuation of around £12 million. The deal also includes a 25% sell-on fee for Manchester City, approximately £3.4 million.
Rogers, mainly a winger, had initially joined Boro on a four-year deal.
A hopeful Unai Emery, Villa's manager, expressed excitement about working with Rogers and expects the player to progress at the club.
Despite a recent 3-1 defeat to Newcastle, Villa sits fourth in the Premier League, just five points behind the top spot.
The team is also still active in the FA Cup, with a replay against Chelsea, and has advanced to the Europa Conference League last 16.
While Villa recently acquired defender Kosta Nedeljkovic from Red Star Belgrade, Emery stated on Tuesday that he doesn't anticipate any further business before the Premier League's winter transfer deadline on Thursday at 23:00 GMT.
