Muir Sets British Record Amidst World Record Breaks in Paris.

At the Paris Diamond League, Laura Muir achieved a new British record in the 1500m, while her rival Faith Kipyegon shattered the world record in the same event. 

Meanwhile, Yaroslava Mahuchikh made history by breaking a 37-year-old record in the women's high jump.

Laura Muir, 31, blazed through the 1500m in a new British record time of three minutes and 53.79 seconds, clinching third place and surpassing her own mark set during her Olympic silver win in Tokyo. 

Meanwhile, Kenyan powerhouse Faith Kipyegon stunned with a sensational 3:49.04 finish, securing victory ahead of Australian Jessica Hull and setting her sights on a historic third consecutive Olympic gold in Paris next month.

Amidst the electrifying atmosphere, British champion Georgia Bell achieved a massive personal best of 3:56.54, taking fifth place as she gears up for her Olympic debut. 

Katie Snowden also showcased her prowess, finishing ninth with a time of 3:58.13, adding to the thrilling performances at the Paris Diamond League.

Ukraine's world high jump champion, Yaroslava Mahuchikh, 22, showcased her Paris gold-medal ambitions by breaking the 1987 record of Belarusian Stefka Kostadinova with a clear first attempt at 2.10 meters.

Briton Morgan Lake finished ninth with a jump of 1.92 meters.

In other events, Elizabeth Bird achieved a season's best time of 9:09.07, securing third place in the women's 3,000m steeplechase, which was won by Bahrain's world champion Winfred Yavi in 9:03.68.

Laviai Nielsen set a personal best of 50.76 seconds, finishing fifth in the highly competitive women's 400m, where Dominican Republic's world champion Marileidy Paulino took first place in 49.20 seconds.

With two Diamond League meetings remaining before the Paris 2024 Olympics, athletes will have opportunities to fine-tune their preparations in Monaco on Friday and London on Saturday, 20 July.

Meanwhile, at the FBK Games in the Netherlands on Sunday, Keely Hodgkinson claimed victory in the women's 800m with a time of 1:57.36, while Melissa Courtney-Bryant triumphed in the 1500m in 4:03.58.
