Ferguson Triumphs in Munich, Clinches Spot in The Open.

Ewen Ferguson won the BMW International Open in Munich, Germany, by two strokes, earning a spot in this month's Open Championship at Royal Troon.

Ewen Ferguson, a 28-year-old Scot, claimed his third DP World Tour win and his first since 2022 with a four-under-par final round of 68, finishing 18 under overall to win the BMW International Open in Munich, Germany, by two strokes. Englishman Jordan Smith and Australian David Micheluzzi shared second place.

Ferguson's compatriot, Connor Syme, finished in the top five with a share of fourth place at 14 under, alongside England's Matthew Southgate.

Only two Scots, Sandy Lyle and Colin Montgomerie, had previously won the Munich event, making Ferguson the first Scottish player to win a DP World Tour event since Robert MacIntyre's Italian Open victory in 2022.

Ferguson, who played in last year's Open Championship at Hoylake, secured his spot in this year's Open as one of the top five players in the Race to Dubai not otherwise exempt. The Open will take place from 18-21 July on the Ayrshire coast.

Ross Fisher tied for eighth at 12 under, while Tom Lewis and Andrew Wilson finished just inside the top 20 at eight under.

"I honestly can't believe it," Ferguson told Sky Sports. "The last four holes I felt like I was in a dream; I just didn't think this was actually happening. It was crazy."
