Australian rugby league coach - Paul Green dies at the age of 49.

Former North Queensland Cowboys coach and rugby league star Paul Green, who guided the club to a maiden NRL Premiership, has died suddenly at the age of 49.

Green played for and coached Queensland in State of Origin and later he led the Cowboys to their greatest heights during a six-and-a-half year spell between 2014 and 2020.

Green played more than 100 NRL games, debuting with the Cronulla Sharks in 1994 before moving to the North Queensland Cowboys in 1999.

He played for Australia twice during the Super League era, and also led the Sharks to the Super League grand final in 1997.

Paul Green coached the Cowboys for 167 games over a six-year period and the Queensland side in the 2021 State of Origin series.
