Algeria Denounces 'Unethical Targeting' of Boxer’s Eligibility.

Algeria's Olympic Committee has condemned the "baseless" attacks on boxer Imane Khelif following scrutiny of her eligibility for the Paris Olympics.

Imane Khelif, one of two athletes cleared for the women’s boxing events, was disqualified from last year’s Women’s World Championships in New Delhi due to a failed testosterone level test.

At the same event, Taiwan's Lin Yu-ting lost a bronze medal for not meeting gender eligibility criteria.

Khelif will compete against Italy’s Angela Carini in a welterweight match on Thursday, while Lin will face Sitora Turdibekova in the featherweight division on Friday.

Concerns about eligibility rules have been raised by Italy’s family minister Eugenia Roccella, sports minister Andrea Abodi, and some female boxers in Paris.
