Kompany Advocates for Yearly Game Limit to Safeguard Player Well-Being.

Bayern Munich's head coach, Vincent Kompany, is urging for a yearly limit on how many games players can participate in, highlighting worries about their heavy workloads.

Kompany’s team is set to participate in the newly revamped Champions League, which adds at least two extra matches before the knockout rounds, as well as the first 32-team Club World Cup next summer.

His call for limits on player games comes after Manchester City’s Rodri suggested that players are nearing a strike due to the rising number of matches.

Kompany, a former captain at City, emphasized, "Playing 75 or 80 games is simply not feasible anymore." He advocates for a cap on individual games and mandatory rest periods for players.

Bayern Munich could face up to 64 games this season, potentially stretching their schedule until July 13, when the Club World Cup final takes place. Many players will also be involved in national team duties.

In July, the global players' union, Fifpro, announced plans to take legal action against FIFA for what they termed an "abuse of dominance" in the sport.
