Exeter fly-half Harvey Skinner is determined to make his mark and earn a spot in the England squad this season.
The 26-year-old Harvey Skinner will make his 100th appearance for Exeter in all competitions this weekend against Leicester in the opening round of the Premiership.
Having taken over as the Chiefs' first-choice fly-half from Joe Simmonds last season, Skinner aims to lead Exeter to success and gain international recognition.
“I still aspire to play at the international level and compete for that number 10 shirt,” he told BBC Sport. “I just need to perform well for my club; if the team is doing well, I’ll be in the running for an England spot.”
The fly-half position has seen fierce competition in recent years, with players like Owen Farrell, George Ford, and Marcus Smith dominating selection. This depth meant that Simmonds, despite his impressive performances that helped Exeter secure a Premiership and Champions Cup double in 2020, never received an England call-up.
Skinner added, “When you face someone already in that England shirt, it’s a chance to show them, ‘I’m here—keep an eye on me.’”
