Arteta Stunned by Rice's Red Card: Was the Second Yellow Justified?

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed his surprise at Declan Rice's red card during their 1-1 draw with Brighton, criticizing referee Chris Kavanagh for what he called "inconsistent" decisions.

After being booked earlier for a foul on Brighton's Joel Veltman, Declan Rice received a second yellow card just four minutes into the second half for kicking the ball away as Veltman tried to take a free-kick.

Joao Pedro then equalized nine minutes later, canceling out Kai Havertz's opener and ending Arsenal's perfect start to the season while keeping Brighton unbeaten.

Arteta expressed his frustration, saying, "I was amazed by the inconsistency. In the first half, there were two incidents, and nothing happened. Then, in a non-critical area, Declan accidentally touches the ball, and he's sent off. If that's the call, the next one should have been a red for them too. It's unbelievable at this level."
