Welsh Rookie Locks Ready to Challenge Springboks.

Saturday's game at Twickenham will challenge Wales' new second-row duo, Matthew Screech and Ben Carter.

The Dragons duo, Matthew Screech and Ben Carter, will face South Africa's experienced lock pairing of Eben Etzebeth and Franco Mostert on Saturday at Twickenham.

Etzebeth and Mostert, who last played together in the World Cup final victory against New Zealand in October 2023, have a combined 192 international caps, with Etzebeth alone having more caps (119) than the entire Wales starting pack (118).

In contrast, Screech and Carter have a total of 12 caps, including only five starts.

Despite this disparity, Carter remains optimistic. "It's exciting," he said on the Scrum V podcast. "They are the world champions, so who better to test yourself against? I love playing with Screech; he has been a great help to me at the Dragons, and I'm looking forward to doing it in the Welsh shirt."

Carter, 23, has started five matches in his 11 Tests. His last Test was against South Africa in a World Cup warm-up match in August, where Wales lost 52-16.

After missing the World Cup and the Six Nations due to a hamstring injury, Carter used the time to bulk up and is eager to prove himself against the Springboks.
